Valero is looking for an Associate Renewable Diesel Accountant to join the team at the Headquarters in San Antonio, Texas. With limited supervision, this position records financial accounting entries, reconciles balance sheets, performs analysis, and maintains accounting records for Diamond Green Diesel. This role:

• Executes accounting activities to include compiling and analyzing a variety of accounting data and preparing related accounting, management, and business unit reports including development of materials for joint venture board meetings.
• Participates in and directs month-end close process including balance sheet analysis, accounting corrections, and accruals so that established timelines are met.
• Works with plant sites to analyze actual results versus forecasts to establish reasonableness.
• Coordinates budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting processes.
• Works with joint venture board, operations, plant controllers, planning & economics, and accounting groups, as needed, to ensure accurate and timely financial accounting and reporting.
• Works with plant controllers to prepare ad hoc analysis as requested by joint venture partners and plant operations to aid in financial stewardship.
• Understands joint venture agreements and relationships between the joint venture and the partners. Manages accounting, develops and monitors controls and coordinates transactions to record effects of these complex agreements and business transactions.
• Resolves differences between internal and external parties per contract terms and prepares accounting transactions as needed.
• Assists plants with ad hoc analysis, as requested.
• Develops and implements process improvements, new procedures, analysis tools to improve overall effectiveness.
• Applies knowledge to solve problems across departmental lines.
• Provides guidance and direction to other staff; handles and resolves complex accounting issues as a subject matter expert.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications:
* Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio Headquarters, required. * Bachelor's or higher level degree in Accounting required. * Currently pursuing CPA certification or CPA certified preferred. * Master’s or higher level degree in Accounting or related field preferred. * Experience in the renewables, refining and/or chemical manufacturing industry preferred. * 1 year of accounting experience preferred. * Working knowledge of SAP preferred.

Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
