Valero Sr Reliability Engineer in BENICIA, California

Description:

Provides technical support to Maintenance, Operations, Turnaround and Capital Projects by providing assistance in resolving fixed equipment design, operation, and maintenance problems, as well as developing pressure vessel and piping mechanical specifications, repair plans and Fitness for Service evaluations.

Job Duties:

  • Procures fixed equipment identified as required for reliability improvements for both routine maintenance and turnarounds
  • Provides technical support to Turnaround and Capital Project groups on fixed equipment design, installations and repairs to ensure that equipment reliability, operability, and maintainability are addressed
  • Provides estimates and develops justifications for reliability improvement and equipment replacements/upgrades during project development
  • Provides technical support to the inspection department with day-to-day activities with respect to field findings from both planned and unplanned events
  • Develops and reviews site Maintenance Standard Practices and Inspection Manuals as needed
  • Performs Fitness for Services evaluations and remaining life calculations on fixed equipment following applicable codes and standards
  • Provides quality control/assurance services for shop and field repairs.
  • Leads and supports Root Cause Failure Analysis
  • Generates Management of Change (eMOC)
  • Maintains unit records, tabulations and drawings
  • Utilizes reliability database, SAP and other electronic tools to track cost, equipment histories and preventive/predictive maintenance
  • Provides support in Special Emphasis Programs including RBI, DMR, MOE and others
  • Monitors contractor activity for progress and quality on engineering and construction projects
  • Consults with other departments on mechanical engineering problems
  • Documents critical material and/or schedule decisions
  • Provides project controls oversight on assigned projects for expenditures, schedule and scope attainment
  • Assists Operations, Product Control, and Maintenance Departments in developing procedures, training, and processes to ensure equipment is operated within its design parameters.
  • Advises engineering on new capital designs and installations to ensure that equipment reliability, operability, and maintainability are addressed.
  • Develops and reviews equipment specifications and standards for reliability improvement.
  • Develops and tracks cost justifications for reliability improvement.
  • Performs all duties following the safety rules and guidelines established by the Refinery

  • Basic skill using Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word and Excel).

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

The salary range for this position is $123,520 to $169,840 and represents Valero’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of expected compensation at the time of this posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of job-related factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:
* Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Benicia Refinery, required. * Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Engineering required. * Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred. * 5 years of engineering experience with fixed equipment required. * Experience in refining or petro-chemical industry preferred.

Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
