Valero Sr Process Control Engineer in HOUSTON, Texas

Description:

Provide support for refinery process control, CIS, and auxiliary computer systems. Help to select, design, standardize, and implement process control strategies and systems in the Refinery. Improve refinery operations and profitability through design, implementation and monitoring of advanced control systems. Implement and oversee information systems that use process control data for decision making and operational improvement. Provide basic troubleshooting assistance for instrumentation issues.

  • Troubleshoots and maintains DCS database, software, and configuration for Honeywell Experion and TDC3000 DCS systems.
  • Monitors and identifies mal-performing field instruments impacting control loop performance.
  • Develops and implements process control schemes and control techniques.
  • Tunes existing process controllers.
  • Assists in performing routine software maintenance of Honeywell Experion DCS systems and Triconex Safety systems.
  • Provides support to project engineers on controls related projects.
  • Develops and reviews control logic on PLCs and Triconex Safety systems.
  • Identifies opportunities for advanced process control.
  • Maintains and optimizes advanced process control programs.
  • Provides startup assistance for new projects.
  • Provides support for urgent off-hour refinery needs and turnaround coverage.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Control Systems, Mechanical Engineering, or related field required. * 5 years of engineering experience in a petroleum refinery required. * Control systems engineering experience with Honeywell Experion DCS and Triconex Safety systems preferred. * Allen Bradley PLC and/or Bently Nevad vibration system experience preferred. * Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Houston Refinery, required.

Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
