Valero Refinery Accounting Intern (Summer 2019) in TEXAS CITY, Texas

Description:

Valero is on the search for energetic and motivated students to join the Valero Intern Program. The internship program has openings for Accounting Interns looking to work in a Refinery setting and who are ready for new and exciting challenges in a fast-paced environment.

The Accounting Internship will provide you hands-on experience and will allow you to apply accounting concepts and principles to develop the core competencies needed to succeed in a business environment.

Major accountabilities might include:

  • Day to day accounting and analysis activities for the Refinery.
  • Assistance with the Refinery's accounting department to include:

    o financial planning and forecasts o capital budget o cost accounting o expense budgeting o financial and statistical reporting o results of operations analysis

  • Special accounting projects to assist the Refinery Controller.

This summer internship is offered in two Valero Refinery locations:

o McKee Refinery in Sunray, Texas o Memphis Refinery in Memphis, Tennessee

This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree (or higher) in Accounting required.
  • Graduation date of December 2019 required.
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 (or higher) on a 4.0 scale preferred.
  • Obtained at least 60 credit hours by the start of internship required.
  • Able to work 40 hours per week during the Summer required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
